Fusing and Slumping Basics Workshop

Learn how to design and fire fused glass pieces as you gain exposure to kilns and equipment and learn about firing schedules, annealing, compatibility, testing, slumping, safety, record keeping and problem solving. Make a decorated  slumped bowl or plate in this in-depth fusing workshop.  Glass cutting experience is helpful but not required. Bring glass cutter and safety glasses to first session.

Mark is an adjunct instructor at the Howard Community College (HCC) where he offers Stained Glass Classes. Sessions cover cutting glass, foiling, pattern assembly, soldering, and framing your project. See the latest HCC catalog of courses for current dates and time. Please register through HCC.
Just For Kids ---
Children and their friends can celebrate that special birthday by making stained glass jewelry or special projects designed especially for young creative minds.  Email for details.
Customized Classes & Workshops ---
Always wanted to learn how to, but can't find a class.  Ask Mark to customize a class just for your and a few friends.

Artist in Residence at select Howard County elementary and middle schools.

Fusing... Tiles and Panels Workshop

Learn about glass compatibility while creating a unique piece of art! Make two 5x5-inch square tiles which you can incorporate into a stained glass panel, 3-dimensional box, or flat panel lamp.

Fusing... Advanced 3-Dimensional Workshop

Learn how to create 3-dimensional glass flowers. Create unique  flowers and leaves by fusing powdered paints to glass and then  slumping it into a mold to achieve a unique 3-dimensional effect.

2 sessions; 2 hours per session; limit 6

Fusing... Bowls & Plates Workshop

Learn about glass compatibility, thickness, and stages of fusing  through demonstrations and hands on practice. Make a highly decorated 12-inch slumped bowl or plate from the patterns provided or create your own design during this in-depth  fusing workshop.

2 sessions; 2 hours per session; limit 5
Glass cutting experience is required.
Bring glass cutter and safety glasses to first session.

Fusing... Jewelry Making for Kids & Adults Workshop

Make several pieces of jewelry from small glass  shapes by fusing (melting) them in a kiln. This is a safe, hands-on  workshop loaded with lots of demonstrations. An adult MUST accompany anyone ages 8-14. All materials supplied.  Bring glass cutter if you want to experiment with glass shapes  other than those provided.

1 session; 2 hours per session; limit 8
